About me
I am a mother of three little girls, 5, 4 and 2 years old. I trained as a Pastry Chef at the Cordon Bleu and while I absolutely LOVE good food I have always been very much into healthy eating (I know, seems contradictory studying Pastry of all things, but I really do love the precision and science of it). After having children I became more convinced that we had to avoid processed food as much as possible as a family, and while that is a lovely thought it also means a lot more work especially when you have very picky eaters which unfortunately I do. You know those kids that prefer cold plain noodles, ask for the bright pink frosting (I cringe every time), and analyze every spec of green on their plate? Well I have one of those, and I am convinced it is to keep me from judging any parent who struggles feeding their child healthy food. That being said, I really try to find ways to sneak as much nutrition as I can into food while still making it acceptable for them.

I started this blog because I'm sure many can identify with the feeling of looking for something on Pinterest or the internet trying to find a healthy and interesting meal to make for your family, the picture looks great and it looks simple enough, you make it and it looks nothing like the picture and why oh why doesn't it taste like you think it should? I am putting recipes on here that I have tried a few times, and made small adjustments, I give some simple tweaks and explanations that make the difference. I also put a lot of my own tried and proven recipes and ingredient replacements to pack a more healthy punch. I love trying new healthy recipes and experimenting, so let me know if you want me to try out a recipe for you or if you tried one that has not seemed to work-we can make it work for you.

While not all my recipes are gluten free and dairy free, many are and all are processed sugar free. I try to minimize the amount of wheat flour that I use, and always use organic whole wheat. I also minimize the amount of dairy and use high quality when I do. My belief is that food should be real food, I want to know and understand every ingredient that goes in. I also need it to be EASY! Very few people have time to spend hours making a meal - lets be honest we usually try to find something that we can throw together in half an hour. My hope is that this blog will be a help and quick reference for busy people as I have tried out these recipes many times and they have (for the most part) been very well received.

Clarification: I am in no way trying to undermine other chefs or their recipes, or say that the recipes do not work, I have found some excellent recipes from extremely talented people. Sometimes there are some very simple things that need to be done to make them work and I'm offering little adaptations that might make them work better for you or your family.
